H.R.B. Shiraz Pinot Noir
Wine
Briar Ridge H.R.B. Shiraz Pinot Noir is an equal blend of Shiraz and Pinot Noir from premium Hunter Valley vineyards, including the estate's Dairy Hill Block at Mount View.
The varieties are harvested individually, then destemmed and crushed. The Shiraz ferments with a specific yeast strain while the Pinot Noir sees indigenous yeast fermentation with careful temperature monitoring.
Once pressed and racked, the Shiraz goes to French oak, one third new, while the Pinot Noir goes to seasoned oak puncheons. At 18 months, the parcels are blended, gently fined and filtered for bottling.
Deep purple, Briar Ridge H.R.B. Shiraz Pinot Noir pays homage to the pioneering wine style of the Hunter Valley, the 'Hunter River Burgundy'.
It is medium bodied with spicy dark fruit flavours, silky tannins and a fine boned acid structure. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
